Le'Son Ivory
Now in his fourth year at EC Athletics, Le'Son Ivory serves as director of cheer, head coach, and choreographer for the cheer program. Coach Le'Son is USASF cetified in Tumbling, Stunts and Tosses. He brings over 20 years of competitive cheerleading and coaching experience to our program. He is a former collegiate and professional cheerleader and has choreographed for some of the top all-star, high school and collegiate teams in Georgia and North Carolina as well as New York and Texas. While cheering for the University of Akron, Lee was captain for two years earning the highest male cheerleader score out of 48 men. During his career he has worked for two of the top cheerleading companies in the country as a head instructor, Americheer and NCA. Le'Son moved to Texas from New York City where he was pursuing a career as a print model and actor while coaching the Liberty All-Stars out of Greenwich, Connecticut. Le'Son has competed in, choreographed and coached many National Champion All-Star routines, and we are thrilled to have him as a part of the EC Athletics family.
Melissa Ward
Coach Missye has over 20 years experience in coaching and competing at cheer, dance, gymnastics, and twirling. She began coaching while still a student at Baylor University, where she was a Golden Girl for four years, including two years as captain. She began competing at twirling, dance, and gymnastics at age 3, and was a nationally-ranked twirler through high school. Melissa was a cheerleader for both her middle school and high school. For the fifth year, Coach Missye is coaching the Level 1 squads after leading the Blue Bolts to 5 National titles in 2009 followed by a combined 4 more National titles for the Level 1 teams in 2010! Specializing in working with the younger children, but also in keeping us organized, Coach Missye coordinates the administrative aspects of the cheer program.
Lee Ward
Lee Ward created EC Athletics as a program to not only develop athletes physically, but also to teach them about responsibility, teamwork, and discipline. As a father of 3, he knows the importance of teaching children to work hard and compete. Lee was a high school cheerleader and opened EC Athletics as a way combine his love of competing with the desire to spend more time with his own children. Lee also studies, instructs, and competes in Tae Kwon Do, so focus and discipline are a large part of his philosophy. As owner and operator of EC Athletics, Lee is involved in all aspects of the cheer program and is USASF certified in Tumbling, Stunts and Tosses.
Robert Owens
Melissa Jones
As a mother of two, Coach Melissa’s love and passion is working with children. She brings over 15 years of coaching and teaching cheerleading, gymnastics, and aquatics to us. As a former cheerleader, she has won numerous awards from all-star to all-American cheerleader. She has studied exercise and sports of all ages for several years. She holds certifications as a USA Gymnastics Instructor, Special Olympics Gymnastics Instructor, and KAT (Kinder Accreditation for Teachers). Melissa is a graduate of the University of North Texas where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology.
Jennifer Culp
Coach Jennifer has experience as a school and competitive cheerleader. She is on our Level 4 team for the second year and she also assists with the Level 1 competitive team. Jennifer teaches all levels of tumbling classes and instructs with summer camps.
Lydia Miller
Lydia Miller is the director of our wonderful Mother's Day Out program as well as general office manager. She has previous experience as a Kindermusik instructor as well as with preschool education. Lydia also stays busy as the mother of three beautiful girls.
